Greetings,
As we move into 2024, the St. Mary’s University School of Law continues its upward momentum.
Our Moot Court team was ranked No. 1 as the new year started, and the Black Law Student Association team recently qualified for nationals, showing the strength of our Advocacy Programs.
The Law Journal for Legal Malpractice & Ethics recently held its 23rd ethics symposium and published Volume 14, demonstrating our leadership in legal ethics scholarship.
At the recent University Alumni Association's Distinguished Faculty Dinner, we honored Associate Dean Ramona Lampley, J.D., for her outstanding teaching, scholarship and mentoring of students. We will soon gather to celebrate the 12-year tenure and many accomplishments of St. Mary's University President Tom Mengler, J.D., as he enjoys his final semester.
This January, we partnered with the State Bar of Texas, Hispanic Issues Section, the San Antonio Bar Association and others to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Hernandez v. Texas and progress in Hispanic legal rights while acknowledging more work ahead. We were honored to host family members of one of the attorneys in the case, Carlos Cadena. As the Texas law school with the most Hispanic graduates, we proudly carry on this civil rights legacy.
This semester, we will unveil new alumni connectivity tools, honor retiring faculty, host admissions and alumni events, and prepare the Class of 2024 for their imminent entry into the legal profession. We will also express appreciation for those supporting scholarships and law school programs through gifts and estate plans, directly enabling our diverse, mission-driven community. I look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming law school and alumni events this spring.
We have much to celebrate this season!
